My View on Cohabitation of University Student

Cohabitation of university students cannotbe dodged for much longer. In many countries, cohabitation of universitystudents is accepted and openly practiced. In China it is condemned by thepublic yet secretly practiced by many. Most universities in the country haveregulations against students’ cohabitation. But the questionremains how rational and effective are those rules.

 大學生同居的話題是無法避免的。在許多國家，大學生同居是能被接受而且很普遍的。在中國，公眾譴責這種行為，但是私下同居屢見不鮮。許多大學明文規定不允許學生同居。但問題是這種規定合理有效么？

  Itis astonishingly easy to find university who will say, in private, that theyare cohabiting with an opposite sex. Most say that they know somebody else whodoes. Because they contend that they are old enough to make such a significantdecision, and that they have their right to choose their life style, theysincerely hope that the public abandon biased views against their practice. Itis undeniably true that they have done nothing wrong on the part of others.Consequently it is paradoxical to label them as “wrong-doers”.

 大學生私下的和異性同居出奇的多。他們很多都說他們認識的某人也是這么做的。因為他們認為他們已經夠大做這種重大的決定了，他們有權利選擇自己的生活方式，他們真誠地希望公眾對他們的這種行為摒除成見。無可否認的是他們在其他方面完全沒有做錯。因此把他們貼上“做錯事的人”的標簽是荒謬的。

 Some people fear that cohabitation of university students may pose adetrimental influence to their academic growth. Yet academic growth is by andlarge determined by one’s intelligence, motivation and environmental factors.If cohabitation can do little with intelligence, it is definitely facilitativeto their motivation because they expect to shine at their schoolwork beforetheir partner, which in turn contributes to their future development. Anotherworry is that university students are too young to wrestle with problemsarising from cohabitation. Such worry is groundless when you realize thatuniversity students are all functioning as adults by legal standard and thatthere is no consensus when one is fully mature to grapple with cohabitationheadaches. That depends on the individual.

 有些人害怕大學生同居會對他們的學業有不利的影響。然而學業很大部分是取決于一個人的智力，動力和環境因素的。如果同居對他們的智力沒啥影響，那么絕對的能夠影響他們的動力，因為他們都想在伴侶前炫耀自己的學業，這會對他們未來的發展有貢獻的。另一個擔憂就是大學生大年輕很難處理同居中出現的問題。這種擔憂是毫無根據的，當你意識到大學生已經完全成長到成年水平，他們能夠完全成熟的去處理頭疼的同居問題。這取決于個人。

  Inshort, we have little to lose if we officially recognize cohabitation ofuniversity students. By refusing to do that, it will usher in moreinconvenience and confrontation.

 總而言之，我們贊同大學生同居是沒什么損失的。如果不這么做，這只會引起更多的不便和抗議。
