No More Iron Rice Bowls

Should corporations continue to offer jobs for life or has this practice already become obsolete? Personally, I concede that jobs for life are no longer in accordance with the thriving business of the 21st century.
公司是不是應(yīng)該繼續(xù)為了生活而提供工作或者說這種做法已經(jīng)過時(shí)了嗎?就我個(gè)人而言,我承認(rèn)為生活而工作與第二十一個(gè)世紀(jì)興旺的生意不一致。
Admittedly, staff will feel less pressured and more secure if they are guaranteed a job for life. Instead of feeling anxious regarding a future fraught with uncertainly, employees can still rely on their job even if other things go awry. However, the ultimate goal of any business enterprise—maximizes the profit—renders this type of job obsolete. First, in order to improve productivity, companies have to dismiss workers who are less competent or less industrious. Otherwise, retaining staff that are not qualified or cannot meet the standards is detrimental to business. Furthermore, since no jobs are provided for life, employees who are ambitious and hard-working will naturally be motivated to achieve excellence. In addition, the ubiquitous sense of competition also makes permanent jobs outmoded. Although life-long positions are offered occasionally to commend individuals who have made a major contribution, in most circumstances, contracts are drawn on a yearly basis.
誠(chéng)然,如果員工有為生活作保障的工作,員工會(huì)感到壓力更少和更安全。而不是感覺焦慮對(duì)未來充滿不確定性,即使其他事情出差錯(cuò),員工仍然可以依靠他們的工作。然而,最終的目標(biāo)任何企業(yè)最大的利潤(rùn)呈現(xiàn)這類工作過時(shí)。第一,為了提高生產(chǎn)率,公司不得不解雇不稱職或不勤勞的員工。否則,留住不合格或不符合標(biāo)準(zhǔn)的員工不利于發(fā)展業(yè)務(wù)。此外,由于沒有為生活所提供的工作,那些雄心勃勃和勤奮的員工自然會(huì)主動(dòng)追求卓越。此外,競(jìng)爭(zhēng)無處不在的感覺也可能永久性的工作過時(shí)。雖然終身職位偶爾表?yè)P(yáng)做出了重大貢獻(xiàn)的個(gè)人,但是在大多數(shù)情況下,合同要以每一年為基礎(chǔ)。
In the final analysis, I believe that the diminishing of permanent jobs is inevitable and this is actually advantageous for societal progress.
在最后的分析中,我認(rèn)為減少永久性的工作是不可避免的,這實(shí)際上是有利于社會(huì)進(jìn)步。
