照顧老人 Taking Good Care of Senior Citizens

It is estimated that by the year 2015,Chinawill have150 million elderly. We should take an active attitude toward old people. Theyshould not be regarded as burdens but part of the wealth of society. Havinggone through all sorts of trials and tribulations in life, the elderly knowbetter than the younger generation about the meaning of happiness and grief.Having stood up to the tests of life for many years, they have accumulatedknowledge, wisdom and practical experience, which are indispensable to socialdevelopment and human civilization. “Respecting the old and caring for theyoung” has been part of our fine tradition and valuable heritage.

據(jù)估計，到2015年中國的老人數(shù)量將會達(dá)到15億。我們應(yīng)該對老人抱有積極的態(tài)度。他們不應(yīng)該被看做事負(fù)擔(dān)而是社會財富的一部分。歷經(jīng)生活的各種患難，老人們比年輕一代更懂得什么是幸福和悲傷。經(jīng)受住了多年生活的考驗，他們積累了知識、智慧和實踐經(jīng)驗，這些是社會發(fā)展和人類文明必不可少的。尊老愛幼已經(jīng)成為我們的優(yōu)良傳統(tǒng)和寶貴遺產(chǎn)。

When people become old, they tend to easily get upset,frustrated, and are afraid of being loneliness. They, therefore, expect morespiritual comfort and emotional interaction from their children and friends.The younger generation should take more time to talk with them. Meanwhile, abetter social environment should be created, one in which old people will befeeling life is beautiful and worth living.

當(dāng)人們變老的時候，他們?nèi)菀鬃兊脽�惱、沮喪和害怕孤獨。因此，他們希望從孩子和朋友那里得到更多的精神慰藉和情感互動。年輕的一代應(yīng)該花更多的時間和他們談心。同時，我們應(yīng)該營造一個更好的社會環(huán)境，讓老人們覺得生活是美好的、值得享受的。

Personally, I would like to make the followingproposals: Teams of young volunteers should be set up to help these pensioners.They can spare some time to have a heart-to-heart communication with them,hoping to find what they are thinking in their inner world and offer some helpto them. Classes for retirees should be organized, where old men and women canstudy calligraphy, painting, health care, singing and dancing and have sportssuitable to them. Some special clubs should also be established, which oldpeople can talk to each other so as to ward off loneliness and lose.

就個人而言，我想要提出以下建議。首先，應(yīng)該建立青年志愿者隊伍去幫助這些老人。他們可以花一些時間和老人們進(jìn)行心與心之間的交流，試圖發(fā)現(xiàn)他們內(nèi)心世界的想法并且給他們提供幫助。其次，應(yīng)組織離退人員進(jìn)行課程培訓(xùn)，使這些老人能夠?qū)W習(xí)書法，繪畫，保健，唱歌跳舞以及做些適合他們的運動。最后，應(yīng)該建立一些特殊俱樂部讓老人們可以相互交談以驅(qū)除孤獨和失落。
